Unfailing, Never-leaving, Unchanging, Nonfluctuating, Unbiased

1 Corinthians 13, the Love Chapter, is viewed by many to be the closest description written in the Bible concerning the characteristics of God's love. Yet, it's not even close. In fact, no amount of words can describe God's love. Ever. the song "The Love of God" written by Frederick M. Lehman contains these lyrics:

"The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
...
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky."

The truth is, just like God Himself, His love always has been and always will be! Ephesians 1:4-5 says, "Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will". Psalm 100:5 says, "For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever". Also, in between the beginning and the end, His love never fails!In fact, the ESV translation of the Bible contains 193 references to God's 'steadfast love', meaning His love never fails, leaves, changes, fluctuates, or favors one over another. Even more so, the Bible speaks of God's 'abounding in steadfast love' 9 times. Which means that His unfailing, never-leaving, unchanging, nonfluctuating, unbiased love stretches any bounds we could ever put on it.

Really and truly, the only way to understand God's love as much as we can is to experience it first hand. But our human minds can't recall every memory or example of God's love that has happened in our life no matter how young we are! Mainly because no one has a perfect memory, but also because our fleshly minds don't even recognize God's love working in our lives constantly. I mean, if God's love is as steadfast as the Bible says it is (even though it is even more steadfast than how the Bible describes it), then God's love is working in ever millisecond of our lives! It's impossible to imagine much less describe that kind of love.

Okay, Mugwalls is about to close, so I need to wrap this up I guess.

I guess I could throw in a bit of application that we all need. Like I said earlier, God is always loving us at every moment of our lives. Can you imagine what it would be like if we continuously thought about His love in every moment of our lives? Think about what His love is like and how He has loved you and others in the past, present, and future. The truth is, thinking about His love solves any problem. If you are in a storm, His love calms the winds with promises of hope and peace. If you are in the middle of a great harvest, His love reassures you that He is always near and blesses us beyond what we can comprehend. If you are stuck in wet cement, His love lifts you to where He is so you can experience Him fully.
